" Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known" –Carl Sagan

Hello and welcome,

I hope this moment finds you well and filling up with peace. Please get comfortable and browse through this website. You will learn a little bit about me, my art and art classes and the healing gift of Reiki. I hope I can be of assistance to you. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Much peace to you and yours,

My background is in biology and the natural sciences.  Years ago I earned a B.S. in Natural Resources and worked in the private sector for environmental companies and nonprofits. Most of my positions involved  Environmental Education to large audiences in museums and in small classrooms settings.  I also had a brief stint in Real Estate but soon learned that was not the life for me.

In my "fun" time I loved, and still love, to camp, hike, travel and create art – particularly weavings.  Weaving became a passion for me and opened up something that I wasn't expecting. It brought me a sense of being calm and at peace with life.  Throwing a shuttle of fiber back and forth on a loom created a meditative place for me and opened up (I believe) a more conscious level in myself.

This new opening inspired me to continue to do more of what I love to do. In 2009, I took the next step of pursuing an art practice. I left my 9-5 job, got on the art show circuit and sold my work at art shows and galleries.  Often times at art shows people would ask if I would teach them what I do.  I didn't think it was something that I wanted to do but after a few years something said it was time to teach. I'm glad I did because it led to much more.  It is so satisfying to create a space for people to gather, discover their own creative energy and have them leave feeling empowered.

I do feel that we meet people at certain times and for certain reasons unbeknownst to us. That being said, I had a person wanting to purchase a piece of mine. She inquired if we could make a trade for her services as a Reiki Master Practitioner.  I wasn't familiar with Reiki. I knew it involved going to a quiet place, laying on a massage table and relaxing – that always sounds good!  I'm very glad that I accepted her offer that day and am especially grateful for what came of it.  (If you are not familiar with Reiki it is a Japenese technique that relieves stress while promoting health in your body.)

After that first Reiki session I researched what Reiki is and does for us (and animals too) for little over a year.  I was wanting to find concrete evidence that it does work. Basically, I wanted to find that what I experienced wasn't all in my head.   In my research I found the NW Reiki Association.  They run a volunteer program in local hospitals and oncology centers that brings Reiki practitioners into medical centers.  If medical centers and hospitals are bringing Reiki in for their patients then there was something very real/tangible to what I experienced and what others do too. (Please see the Resource page for more information.)

I went on and pursued further research and training. I now hold the Usui/Holy Fire II Reiki Master level certification. I am professional member of the International Center of Reiki Training, ICRT and a member of the NW Reiki Association.

As an artist and healer, I honor the awareness I have cultivated to create and move energy through my hands. Through creative art and Reiki, I have found a deep sense of purpose and connection.  It with great joy that I share these gifts with you.
